Ohio, the “Buckeye State,” is a great destination for those travel therapists with an appreciation for the great outdoors. Lake Erie is the perfect place for the fishing enthusiasts or those who enjoy sunbathing on the beach. The Ohio River is a popular attraction for our Ohio SLPs, Ohio PTs, and Ohio OTs.  Aside from offering present-day recreational activities, this river has played an important part in Ohio‘s history as it was often used for travel by explorers as it connects to the Mississippi river.

The river was an important fixture for the Native Americans who used to live here. Ohio travel therapists have also been intrigued by the famous Native American site known as Serpent’s Mound.  Native American culture is so important in this area that the name Ohio actual is derived from the Iroquois word “Ohiyo”, which translates to “it is beautiful”.
